New Polyethylene Resins Offer Increased Performance, Waste and Cost Cutting Advantages
The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) announced today the introduction of innovative new resins and adhesives that can help packaging manufacturers improve their products. MOR-FREE™ L Solventless Laminating Adhesives and the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) DMDA 8810 Resin enable customers to further benefit from Dow's pedigree of packaging innovation and quality.
Dow's range of new resins and adhesives are designed to bring high performance options to customers, in turn offering them the technology increasingly required in today's evolving packaging industry. With these innovative new products, Dow is providing customers' new resins that can help reduce waste, time, and costs.
"Providing the solutions our customers need to create packaging's newest innovations underlines all that we do. The introduction of these products demonstrates Dow's commitment to the industry and to bringing our customers the tools needed to help develop next generation packaging," said Greg Bunker, Senior Group Marketing Manager, North America for Food and Specialty Packaging at Dow.
MOR-FREE™ L Solventless Laminative Adhesives
As a fast-cure adhesives system that meets the varied needs from lower to high performance packaging requirements, the new MOR-FREE™ L Solventless Laminative Adhesives comply with FDA regulations via a full chemical cure completed in as few as two days while also helping to improve lamination productivity and helping to reduce total systems costs. This innovative family of adhesives offers packaging converters advantaged bonding and sealing in uses ranging from basic dry goods packages to more complex and demanding wet food/chemically resistant applications.
The flexibility gained by the single formulation offers the ability to use one adhesive for multiple film structures, which can help create efficiencies in inventory control and a significant ease of handling while also helping to reduce mixing errors. Additionally, when faster curing technology is used in MOR-FREE™ L Solventless Laminative Adhesives, it can potentially help broaden scheduling windows and reduce turnaround and ship out cycles while also potentially helping to reduce work-in-process time in between lamination, slitting, filling and sealing.
HDPE DMDA 8810
Designed for the food packaging marketplace, Dow's new HDPE DMDA 8810 coating resin offers brands and converters a new option with significant advantages. HDPE DMDA 8810 offers reduced chill roll contamination during long runs, which can potentially lead to less machine downtime due to cleanup. Additionally, the enhanced product formulation of HDPE DMDA 8810 can result in less edge bead, meaning lower trim waste, which can potentially help to lower costs as well.
